aubreylstallard: Paul Kirchner, The Bus
Bees and bombs blows minds. A doctoral student in Dublin, Dave Whyte has been crafting beautiful looping mathematical worlds through code. We love his work, not just for the silky smooth play but also because Dave continues to be incredibly generous with his process, often tweeting the source code for his various gifs.
MARTIN LEWIS. Relics (Speakeasy Corner). Drypoint, 1928. (11 7/8x9 7/8 in) Edition of 111.
The location of this scene is at the intersection of Charles Street and West Fourth Street in Greenwich Village. The location of the speakeasy alluded to in this Lewis title was on the ground floor of the building across the street in the upper left, a space that was later occupied by Camilla’s Village Garden restaurant. Kennedy Galleries changed the title to Relics, probably in an attempt to tone down the subject.
This was one of his most popular prints during his lifetime. He sold out the entire intended edition of 100 soon after its completion.
